Definition
a subtype of modification that picks out the instance, or set of instances, of the type that the speaker intends to refer to. Usually performed by numerals and quantifiers, as well other related concepts. (Dik 1997 uses 'selecting' for choosing.) (Sections 4.1.1, 4.1.3)
