Definition
a discourse context which tends to favor a thetic construal. An announcement is an 'out of the blue', usually unexpected and salient reporting of a situation. Example: TRUMP was elected! (with accent on Trump), uttered on November 9, 2016, the day after the Presidential election, is an announcement. (Section 11.3.1)
