Definition
a subtype of counterpresuppositional contrast in which the sentence rejects a component of a prior assertion by offering a replacement for the rejected information. Example: in the exchange John bought apples. No, he bought PEACHES, the speaker rejects the assertion that what John bought was apples and replaces it with peaches. (Section 11.4.1)
