Definition
a concept that does not inherently make reference to another entity: a property is a property of something, an action is performed by someone or something, but most members of the object class just 'are' without making reference to another entity. Example: a brick is a nonrelational entity: its existence is not dependent on another entity in the way that the color of the brick is dependent on the existence of the brick. (Section 2.1)
