Definition
a superordinate category covering any epistemic stance apart from positive epistemic stance – in particular, neutral and negative epistemic stances. Examples: If she comes, I will come too (neutral epistemic stance) and If she had come, I would have come too (negative epistemic stance) are both instances of situations construed by the speaker as hypothetical.
