Definition
a strategy for encoding the relation in major propositional acts ( modifier– referent, predicate– argument), in which the two elements are combined in a single word. Example: in doorknob, door and knob form an instance of compounding. The term 'compounding' or 'compound' is also used for the typifying construction and the binominal lexeme construction. (Section 4.2)
