Definition
a morpheme that overtly expresses the coordination relation in a coordinate construction. Example: in She picked up the pieces and dumped them in the wastebasket, and is the coordinator. A coordinate construction with a coordinator is an example of syndetic coordination. If the morpheme is affixed to a predicate, it is not a coordinator but an overt marker of deranked status.
