Definition
an argument structure construction that does not conform to the prototypical parallel ranking of participant role and argument salience. Example: The salmon were eaten by grizzlies is an instance of a nonbasic voice construction. Nonbasic voice constructions include the passive–inverse voice construction, the antipassive construction, the causative construction, and the applicative construction. (Section 8.1)
